Karachi The Sindh Health Department has issued an updated dengue report, stating that 7,548 tests were conducted across the province over the past 24 hours, out of which 1,212 were confirmed positive. In Karachi Division, 6,166 tests were conducted with 765 cases confirmed, while Hyderabad Division recorded 447 positives from 1,382 tests.
According to Health Secretary Rehan Baloch, 126 new dengue patients were admitted to public hospitals during the same period while private hospitals received 72 new admissions. A total of 135 patients were discharged from public facilities and 89 from private facilities after recovery. One dengue-related death was reported in the last 24 hours.
This month, the provincial dengue tally has risen to 7,173, while the cumulative cases reported this year have reached 12,750. Currently, 257 dengue patients are admitted in public hospitals and 176 in private facilities across the province.
The report noted that 996 beds have been allocated for dengue patients in public hospitals—283 in Karachi, 165 in Hyderabad and 548 in other districts. Private hospitals have reserved 463 beds—189 in Karachi, 208 in Hyderabad and 66 in the rest of Sindh. Data is being gathered from 54 laboratories across Sindh, including 36 in Karachi (13 public, 23 private) and 18 in Hyderabad (7 public, 11 private).
On the other hand, Chief Secretary Sindh Asif Hyder Shah chaired a high-level meeting to review anti-dengue measures, attended by the Health Secretary, commissioners, deputy commissioners and health officials.
The meeting was informed that in Hyderabad, 2,012 fumigation drives and 808 larval control operations have been carried out, while 433 water hotspots have been identified and cleared. Indoor residual spraying (IRS) was conducted in 17,807 rooms to eliminate mosquito breeding.
The Hyderabad Commissioner reported that 378 beds have been reserved for dengue patients in 18 hospitals, of which 184 are occupied—showing a significant decline from 317 beds occupied on November 1. Improvement in the situation was attributed to timely interventions, effective fumigation and favourable weather. All 84 public complaints regarding dengue, including those related to blood arrangements, were resolved. Daily case statistics and fumigation schedules are being shared through media for transparency.
Commissioner Karachi briefed that anti-dengue and fumigation operations are underway daily in all districts, with town-wise schedules prepared in collaboration with district health offices. Field monitoring teams are supervising the drives to ensure maximum coverage and timely action.
The Chief Secretary directed that intensified action be maintained particularly in high-risk zones identified through heat-map data, with strict compliance of scheduled fumigation activities and submission of daily reports. He also instructed the Sindh Healthcare Commission to address complaints about dengue test charges and ensure enforcement of approved pricing. Commissioners and deputy commissioners were urged to regularly disseminate fumigation schedules and awareness messages to enhance community participation.
The Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC) has announced a large-scale anti-dengue fumigation campaign from November 10 to 15, 2025, covering the city’s seven major towns. The drive is being carried out in morning and evening shifts using five fumigation machines.
Areas including Neerunkot, Mian Sarfaraz, Shah Latifabad, Preetabad, Qasimabad, Hussainabad and Sachal Sarmast are being targeted. The schedule began on November 10 with UC-4 in Neerunkot (morning) and UC-19 in Mian Sarfaraz (morning). The campaign will conclude on November 15 with operations in multiple UCs across the city’s towns.
In Sachal Sarmast Town alone, three fumigation machines are deployed, covering UC-88 and UC-89 during the five-day drive.
Citizens have been urged to cooperate with teams, keep windows open during spraying and remove stagnant water around homes. Public complaints or suggestions can be registered through the central helpline at 1139.
