taking oath of the newly elected members of the Sindh Assembly, the inaugural
session of the Assembly was postponed.
Nomination papers for Speaker
and Deputy Speaker will be collected, scrutinized and list will be released
today.
Elections will be held for both
positions tomorrow. PPP requested MQM to withdraw its candidate.
After
the members of the Sindh Assembly took oath and signed the roster, Speaker
Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani adjourned the opening session of the assembly
till 11 am on Sunday.
Also
announced the schedule for the election of new speaker and deputy speaker.
Speaker and Deputy Speakership candidates will be able to get nomination papers
today from 2 to 3 pm. Scrutiny process will be done till 6 pm and list of
nomination papers will be released at 7 pm. According to the schedule, the
election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker will take place on Sunday at 11 am.
On the other hand, the senior
leaders of the People's Party contacted the MQM members and requested them to
vote for the candidates of the People's Party for Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
People's Party members took the position that if MQM withdraws its candidate, relations will improve further. MQM members did not give any response in this regard.
