Saeed Ghani says punctuality, regularity must for top officials of the LG Department and subsidiary agencies

Sindh Local Government Minister, Saeed Ghani, has asked the top officials of the Local Government Department and its subsidiary municipal and civic agencies to be punctual and regular in attending to their duties. Ghani issued these directives while chairing an introductory meeting with the officials of the provincial Local Government Department on Tuesday after he assumed charge of his ministerial position. The Local Government Minister asked the officials concerned to ensure that people should get maximum facilitation at all the offices of civic and municipal agencies in Sindh involved in public dealing. “It is unfortunate that at present people don’t have a good impression about the Sindh government, as we are under an obligation to transform this into a positive image,” he said. He said the senior officials belonging to the subsidiary agencies of the Local Government Department had been attending the introductory meeting the present day, as from the next day separate sessions would be held to get briefings from each of the civic bodies in the province. He said the top officials of the Local Government Department should observe punctuality and regularity in attending their offices so that their subsidiary staff should develop the same habit of performing their duties. He said that all the subsidiary agencies of the provincial Local Government Department should adopt the biometric-based attendance system for their staffers within one month under a centralised monitoring mechanism. The Local Government Minister said that all the local government councils should compile their monthly progress reports, and a copy of them should also be submitted to his office. He directed the Local Government Department officials to send letters to the municipal bodies for details about their properties so they could maintain a computerised database of the same. Ghani asked the Local Government Secretary to immediately post the human resources to fill the vacancies at the municipal agencies, as the newly posted personnel should immediately start discharging their duties. Additional Chief Secretary Local Government Department Syed Khalid Hyder Shah, CLICK Project Director Asif Jan Siddiqui, Managing Director of Sindh Solid Waste Management Board Imtiaz Shah, and director-generals of different development authorities gave briefings about the workings of their respective institutions.
