Senior Minister of Sindh,
Sharjeel Inam Memon, has stated that the People's Party will achieve
significant success in the Senate elections. With 9 members, how will they
secure the senate seats? Their decision not to withdraw from the election
indicates their active participation.
Speaking to the media at
the Sindh Assembly Media Corner, Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon
stated that the Sindh Government and the Department of Excise, Taxation, and
Narcotics Control are conducting a crackdown throughout Sindh, resulting in
significant success in seven or eight cases. There has been a positive response
to this crackdown, and the aim is to halt all types of drug supply under all
circumstances.
Sharjeel Inam Memon
stated that immediately after Eid, the Sindh government will provide relief to
people not only in Karachi but all over Sindh. The construction work on Jam
Sadiq Bridge and Yellow Line BRT will commence swiftly.
He emphasized that the
People's Party has consistently advocated for the freedom of the judiciary. The
party remains committed to ensuring the judiciary's autonomy, a cause for which
only the People's Party workers have made sacrifices, even shedding blood. It
is disheartening that such efforts are often overlooked or misunderstood.
Sharjeel Inam Memon
pointed out that Imran Khan, who spent only four to five months in jail,
suddenly recalls the importance of freedom of judiciary. However, when Shaheed
Bibi approached the judiciary, it supported unconstitutional and illegal
actions. Additionally, President Asif Ali Zardari was unjustly incarcerated for
11 years without evidence. Surprisingly, there was no mention of judicial
freedom during that period. Furthermore, when Saqib Nisar implemented judicial
activism and judicial martial law, there was also a lack of concern for the
freedom of the judiciary.
He mentioned that there
was a nationwide campaign against illegal encroachments, during which the
illegally constructed Bani Gala was regularized under court orders. Despite
being known as dishonest and untrustworthy by the people of Pakistan, a false
person like Imran Khan was unjustly granted the certificate of Sadiq and Amin.
Sharjeel Inam Memon
questioned why nobody remembered the freedom of the judiciary when Saqib Nisar
actively campaigned to secure Imran Khan's victory in the elections. At that
time, Saqib Nisar was affiliated with the People's Party and PMLN. His statements
created an impression that everyone except one person was considered dishonest.
He remarked that Pakistan
faced the risk of losing billions due to the actions of Iftikhar Chaudhry in
the Recodek case, yet there was no mention of the freedom of the judiciary
during that time. Both Iftikhar Chaudhry and Saqib Nisar made a spectacle of
the country in the name of suo moto notices, thereby undermining all
constitutional institutions. This resulted in the disqualification of the
elected Prime Minister.
He highlighted that in
cases like May 9, the accused Imran Khan enters through a gate reserved for
judges, being granted special privileges. He emphasized the need to condemn the
destruction caused to the constitutional and security institutions of the country
on May 9.
He pointed out that there
is an attempt to create an impression that Imran Khan has been mistreated. He
questioned what mistreatment Imran Khan has faced when he continues to meet
with his ministers, advisors, and cabinet members, receiving VVIP treatment. He
contrasted this with his own experience of being held in jail for 21 months
without any evidence or proof, which he deemed as significant mistreatment. He
expressed disappointment in presenting someone like Imran Khan as a national
hero, despite his propagation against the constitutional and security
institutions of the country.
Sharjeel Inam Memon
highlighted that ordinary prisoners are typically denied the opportunity to
meet their mothers, sisters, and children for extended periods, sometimes
spanning two or three years. In contrast, Imran Khan is granted all the
facilities during his confinement.
He emphasized that they
fully support the freedom of the judiciary. However, the deliberate targeting
of their institutions during such occasions is solely aimed at portraying Imran
Khan as a national hero and propagating the narrative that he has been mistreated.
He asserted that Imran Khan's actions are well-known to everyone, including his
involvement in incidents like Farah Gogi, Waseem Akram Plus, Toshakha, and
deliberate attempts to harm the country's economy.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said
that those who advocate for the freedom of the judiciary should explain which
clause of Pakistan's constitution or law permits the receipt of illegal foreign
funding from countries like India and Israel by political parties. He highlighted
that Imran Khan received VVIP treatment despite being involved in serious
crimes. The decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan was detailed and
logical, making it indefensible. Imran Khan was allowed to continue for three
or four years on a stay order, preventing the investigation into foreign
funding by the Election Commission.
He mentioned that if
Justice Umar Atta had not issued a stay order on Justice Waqar Seth's decision
regarding the Peshawar BRT, the leadership of PTI would have been in jail,
facing NAB cases. The Chief Justice of the High Court is currently drafting a decision
indicating corruption in Peshawar BRT. The inspection team of the Chief
Minister of KPK reported that kickbacks of 7 billion rupees were involved in
the Peshawar BRT project. However, Justice Umar Atta Bandyal continued to issue
stay orders one after another, allowing Imran Khan to obtain relief and
maintain the facade of honesty.
He emphasized that the
government is committed to tackling drugs and street crimes. Protecting the
life and property of every citizen is the government's duty. He further stated
that they have successfully intercepted arms and drugs from entering Sindh, indicating
their seriousness in maintaining law and order.
He mentioned that there
is no issue if Faisal Vawda decides to become a senator. Previously, he was
affiliated with a political party, but now he is contesting the elections as an
independent candidate and not representing any specific party. There is nothing
inappropriate about his decision.
