Organized "Second World Sindhi Language Conference" at Arts Council Karachi

Kelamullah Lashari, Dr. Amjad Siraj, Dr. Qasim Baghio, Dr. Anjum Altaf, Dr.
Nasir Abbas Nair, Chairman of Sindhi Language Authority Dr. Ishaq Samiju,
President of Arts Council Muhammad Ahmed Shah spoke.
A large number of linguists, scholars, researchers and intellectuals, teachers and students participated in the conference. The speakers said that all the languages spoken in Pakistan should be given the status of national language.
Language is an
expression of feelings and emotions based on centuries, steps are necessary to
protect languages. Education Minister and writer Sardar Shah said
70 to 80
languages are spoken in Pakistan.
Man has a beautiful and real relationship with language
like a mother.
The case of
mother tongue is the case of survival of human existence.
More than 50% of
the more than 8,000 languages spoken in the world are under threat.
Today, there is
talk of teaching in Punjabi language by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
We opposed the
Single National Curriculum on the grounds that we would give English, Science,
Computer, Maths and the rest of the syllabus in our language.
Apart from English, Science, Computer, Math,
it is the province's right to prepare the syllabus.
Our position was recognized in our previous coalition government.
In the first
phase, Sindhi, Punjabi, Pashto and Balochi should get the status of national
languages.
The education
minister suggested that Sindhi should have an equivalent script in Roman.
Even those who
cannot understand the present script of Sindhi language from Roman script will
be able to read Sindhi easily.
Sindh Culture
Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah also addressed the World Sindhi Conference.
Provincial
Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah appreciated the efforts of the organizers
regarding the conference.
Syed Zulfiqar Ali
Shah said that it is a matter of happiness that personalities from Islamabad,
Quetta, Chitral have come here.
There is no room
for linguistics in Pakistan
Sindhi language
is spoken all over the world including Pakistan, India
We need to do more with literature.
Foreign, domestic
and local writers and intellectuals participated in the conference.
The conference
will continue till Sunday.
