IBA Karachi Hosts IMF Delegation for Economic Dialogue

Karachi, The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi welcomed a distinguished delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for an insightful discussion on Pakistan’s economic trajectory. Organized by the IBA Center for Business and Economic Research (IBA-CBER), the delegation was led by Nathan Porter, IMF’s Mission Chief to Pakistan, alongside Mahir Binici, IMF’s Resident Representative for Pakistan, and Muhammad Ali, IMF Pakistan’s Office Manager.
The delegation engaged in discussions with faculty members from the IBA School of Economics and Social Sciences (IBA-SESS) on key economic and policy issues. Dr. Aadil Nakhoda, Assistant Professor and Research Fellow at IBA-CBER, welcomed the guests, and prominent economists including Dr. Asma Hyder (Dean, IBA-SESS), Dr. Muhammad Nasir (Chairperson, Economics Department), and Dr. Qazi Masood Ahmed (Professor) contributed to the discussion.
Following the faculty session, an interactive discussion titled "Pakistan’s Way Forward" was held with students. Nathan Porter shared insights on Pakistan’s macroeconomic outlook, policy development, and economic challenges. Students actively participated in a Q&A session, posing thought-provoking questions to IMF representatives.
Concluding the event, Dr. Asma Hyder and Dr. Qazi Masood Ahmed presented tokens of appreciation to the IMF delegation. A group photograph marked the end of a productive engagement aimed at fostering economic dialogue in Pakistan.
