Dengue Alarm: Sindh Registers 1,192 New Cases, Four Lives Lost in a Day

Karachi The Sindh Health Department has released the latest report on confirmed dengue cases across the province, according to which a total of 5,899 dengue tests were conducted during the last 24 hours, out of which 1,192 returned positive.
In Karachi Division, 4,371 tests were carried out and 642 cases were confirmed. In Hyderabad Division, 1,528 tests were conducted, of which 550 came back positive.
Secretary Health Sindh, Rehan Baloch, said that during the last 24 hours, 109 new dengue patients were admitted to government hospitals, while 100 new patients were admitted to private hospitals. Meanwhile, 112 patients were discharged after recovery from government hospitals and 151 from private healthcare facilities.
Four fatalities were reported in the province during the same period.
Sharing further details, Secretary Rehan Baloch stated that 4,940 dengue cases have been recorded across the province so far this month, while the total number of dengue-affected people this year has risen to 10,502.
Currently, 227 dengue patients are admitted in government hospitals and 212 in private hospitals across Sindh.
For dengue patients, 256 beds have been allocated in Karachi’s public hospitals, 165 in Hyderabad, and 566 in hospitals across the rest of Sindh — making a total of 987 beds in government hospitals throughout the province. In private hospitals, 196 beds have been allocated in Karachi, 199 in Hyderabad, and 66 in the rest of the province — a total of 461 beds.
Data is currently being received from 55 laboratories across Sindh. In Karachi alone, 37 laboratories are conducting dengue testing, including 12 public and 25 private labs, while 18 laboratories — 7 government-run and 11 private — are functional in Hyderabad for dengue testing.
