(Karachi) On the instructions of Provincial Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla, the operations of the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department of Sindh against drug dealers are continuing rapidly.
A team of the Narcotics Control Wing raided a house in a private housing society on the Superhighway yesterday and recovered a liquor factory, a large number of foreign-made local liquor bottles, chemicals used in the production of liquor, stickers and empty bottles.
The Director Narcotics Control Karachi Riaz Hussain Khoso, while holding a press conference at the DG Narcotics Control Wing Secretariat, said that his team arrested an accused from Korangi area yesterday and recovered 12 bottles of foreign-made local liquor from his possession. Later, after further interrogation of the accused, on the indication of the accused, a raid was conducted in a private society situated on Superhighway, from where 254 bottles of international-made local liquor worth millions of rupees, 57 liters of prepared liquor drums, three 30 liters each ethanol cans, stickers, bottle caps and other packing materials, along with a Mehran car used in drug smuggling were recovered, while one accused managed to escape. Riaz Hussain Khoso further said that the accused were preparing international brand liquor locally with the help of various formulas and chemicals.
He said that the Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Sindh Mukesh Kumar Chawla has directed strict action against drug dealers without any discrimination, while further investigation is underway with the arrested accused and it is hoped that more accused will be arrested and drugs will be recovered
