Awami Tehreek's Central Committee Meeting: Decision to Continue Struggle Against Six New Canals and Corporate Farming

Hyderabad: Awami Tehreek's Central Committee has decided to continue its struggle against the construction of six new canals and corporate farming in Sindh.
Hyderabad: A public gathering to mark the seventh death anniversary of Awami Tehreek's leader, Rasool Bux Palijo, will be held on June 21, 2025, in Jungshahi.
Hyderabad: The people of Sindh will not allow the construction of six new canals from the Indus River or the allocation of millions of acres of Sindh’s land to corporate farming companies under any circumstances.
Hyderabad: The meeting condemned laws such as the PECA Act, Investment Board Bill 2023, and the 26th Constitutional Amendment, calling them worse than martial law as they seek to seize national resources and suppress public voices.

Hyderabad (PR): The Awami Tehreek’s Central Committee Meeting, presided over by Advocate Vasand Thari, was held at D-10 Palijo House, Qasimabad, Hyderabad.
The committee reaffirmed that the people of Sindh will not allow six new canals to be carved out of the Indus River or corporate farming companies to acquire millions of acres of Sindh’s land. It was decided that the movement against these projects will continue, with protests and rallies across various locations.
A protest rally will be held tomorrow, March 3, in Jhimpir.
The meeting also finalized plans for a public gathering on June 21, 2025, in Jungshahi, marking the seventh death anniversary of Rasool Bux Palijo. Invitations will be extended to political, social, literary figures, scholars, poets, labor leaders, and peasant activists from across the country.
The committee strongly condemned the closure of the Islamabad and Multan offices of the social organization PATTAN by the federal government. It was stated that PATTAN exposed election irregularities through Form 47, which led to its targeting and suppression.
Speaking at the meeting, Advocate Vasand Thari criticized the government, stating:
President Asif Ali Zardari, from the Presidential House, has approved six new canals, amended the IRSA Act, and given a green light to corporate farming.
Meanwhile, former President Arif Alvi of PTI signed the Investment Board Amendment Bill 2023, paving the way for handing over more than 1.3 million acres of Sindh’s land to foreign corporations.
Thari accused the PPP, PTI, and the 12 parties of PDM of being complicit in these anti-Sindh decisions.
Thari further alleged that the Sindh government has deliberately allowed lawlessness to prevail.
Robberies, kidnappings, and killings have become routine. No citizen is safe, and the police have become mere servants of MNAs, MPAs, feudal lords, and tribal chieftains.
Priya Kumari and dozens of other individuals are being held hostage by dacoits, yet the police refuse to act.
The riverine areas of Sindh have been turned into a marketplace for NATO arms, and the police, tribal leaders, and feudal lords are part of this multi-billion-dollar illegal trade.
He further stated, A government that fails to protect its people has no constitutional or legal right to govern.
