March 08, 2025 (Karachi) On the instructions of the Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Sindh Mukesh Kumar Chawla, successful operations are underway against drug peddlers across the province.


 The Narcotics Control Department Sindh Rohri Circle and District West Karachi Circle recovered drugs worth crores of rupees in two separate intelligence based operations and arrested 3 suspects.


 According to a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Excise and Narcotics Control Department Sindh, the Narcotics Control Department Sindh Rohri Circle has arrested an accused after recovering 15 kilograms of high-quality hashish from a passenger coach during an operation on a tip-off. The value of the recovered hashish in the international market is more than Rs 40 million. The passenger coach was coming to Karachi from Quetta. A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation has been initiated.


 On the other hand, the Narcotics Control Department Sindh District West Karachi Circle has recovered one kilogram of ice (methamphetamine) worth millions of rupees from the accused riding a motorcycle while carrying out a major operation on a tip-off. The spokesperson of the Excise Department has said that according to initial investigation, the accused belong to an organized gang involved in drug smuggling, which smuggles drugs in posh areas of the city including Defense and Clifton. One of the arrested accused, accused Ashfaq Ahmed alias Sahiba is involved in drug trafficking since long while 8 cases have already been registered against the accused in different police stations of the city. Raids are being conducted to arrest other members of the gang involved in drug trafficking.  


 The Provincial Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla has directed that the operations against drug peddlers should be further intensified and the intelligence network against drug peddler groups should be made more active. He said that inter-provincial and international groups are currently involved in drug trafficking in Karachi while all steps are being taken to suppress them. 


 He said that strict action will be taken against the drug peddlers, no matter how influential they are.
