Sindh govt spending over Rs 8b to build 99 uplift schemes in Karachi's all towns under CLICK project: Saeed Ghani

Sindh Local Government Minister, Saeed Ghani, has said that uplift schemes having a total cost of over Rs 8 billion are being executed in all towns of the city by the Sindh government under the World Bank-funded CLICK (Competitive and Liveable City of Karachi) project.
The Local Government Minister stated this on Sunday in his speech after he inaugurated the newly renoved Baradari Park in Block-A of the North Nazimabad area of the city.
Ghani told the audience on the occasion that more uplift schemes having a total of around Rs 10 billion would be launched in Karachi next month.
He said the Pakistan Peoples Party and its Sindh government had nullified the false impression that it carried out development only in such areas, which were the PPP's strongholds in the city. Ghani told the audience that the Sindh government had undertaken major development initiatives both in the districts of Korangi and Central of the city. He said the Sindh Local Government Department would be ordered to purge all parks and playgrounds in the city of commercial activities. He said the renovation of the Baradari Park in the the North Nazimabad area had been undertaken under the CLICK project. The Local Government Minister told the audience that the Sindh government had been partnering with the municipal agencies in the city to uplift and improve civic conditions in Karachi.
He said that a total of 19 uplift projects were being developed in District Central alone with a total cost of Rs 1.8 billion under the aegis of the CLICK project. He told the participants of the ceremony that the Sindh government had been spending a total of Rs 8.2 billion to complete 99 development projects under the auspices of the CLICK project.
He said that work would start on another 75 development projects in Karachi under CICK with a cost of Rs 9.9 billion in April 2025.
He said the area town administration and residents of the locality were fully responsible for taking care of the newly renovated park.
The Local Government Minister urged the masses to take care of all the public assets provided by the government to serve the residents of the city, including road networks, parks, playgrounds, and transport systems. He assured the audience that all the under-constructed development projects were being built expeditiously, whereas certain issues could have delayed the completion of a few development initiatives in the city.
He said that road networks, bridges, underpasses, parks, playgrounds, and other civic facilities and amenities had been built in both districts, Korangi and Central, of the city.
He said that public parks in the city were being renovated and beautified on a priority basis for the recreation of the people. He said the relevant town administrations would take care of the renovated parks. He said the Sindh government would come to the support of the town administration if it faced problems in management of such public assets due to their limited resources.
The ceremony was attended by Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Najmi Alam, CM's Special Assistant Raza Haroom, PPP District Central President Senator Masroor Ahsan, CLICK Project Director Ayesha Hameed and others.
