Harry Brook Named England's New White-Ball Captain
Harry Brook has been appointed England's white-ball captain, succeeding Jos Buttler after the 2025 Champions Trophy. The ECB confirmed the 26-year-old’s promotion on April 7, marking a new era for England’s limited-overs sides.
Brook, who previously served as vice-captain and even led in Buttler’s absence, expressed his excitement: “It’s a real honour… I’m looking forward to moving us forward and winning major tournaments.”
Rob Key, ECB Director of Cricket, praised Brook’s leadership potential and cricketing acumen, calling him a key part of their long-term plans.
England is eyeing a white-ball reset under Brook and head coach Brendon McCullum following a string of poor results. Brook’s first assignment will be the home series against West Indies in May.
