Saeed Ghani seeks progress reports on Sharah-e-Bhutto, Korangi Causeway projects in 48 hours

Karachi

Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani has asked the relevant project directors to compile detailed progress reports in the next 48 hours on the under-construction Shahrah-e-Bhutto and Korangi Causeway road infrastructure projects in Karachi.

The Local Government Minister issued these directives while presiding over an important meeting to review progress on the Shahrah-e-Bhutto and Korangi Causeway projects on Tuesday. The Local Government Minister directed the relevant project directors that the detailed reports should contain the estimated cost of the projects, PC-1, and approvals from the Planning & Development Department of the Sindh government.

The meeting took into consideration progress on the under-construction phase-II of Shahrah-e-Bhutto, construction of a new interchange on this expressway, a ramp for Indus Hospital, Korangi Causeway, and a roundabout underneath it.

The Local Government Minister said the provincial government had been doing its best to ensure the timely completion of the Shahrah-e-Bhutto and Korangi Causeway projects to extend maximum benefits to the people of Karachi in the shortest possible time. He told the participants of the meeting that Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah were fully serious about these two projects.

He said the completion of the two road infrastructure projects and related arteries would improve the flow of vehicular traffic and reduce the number of heavy vehicles operating on the inner roads of the city. He said the completion of phase II of Sharea Faisal would enable motorists to reach Quaidabad from DHA in just 11 minutes with phenomenal savings of fuel. He informed the meeting that phase II of Shahrah-e-Bhutto would likely be launched either by the end of the current month or the first week of the next month.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Local Government Department, Syed Khalid Hyder Shah; Special Secretary of Technical Abdul Ghani Sheikh; Shahrah-e-Bhutto Project Director Niaz Ahmed Soomro; Karachi Mega Projects Project Director Aftab Chandio; and other officials.
