Central Secretary Information of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Nadeem Afzal Chan, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected President of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE), Kazim Khan, Senior Vice President Ayaz Khan, and Secretary General Ghulam Nabi Chandio.

In his statement, Nadeem Afzal Chan said that the success of CPNE’s new leadership marks a significant milestone in the continuity of press freedom, the public's right to information, and democratic values. He stated that CPNE has always been a strong and respectable voice in promoting independent journalism in Pakistan, and expressed hope that the new leadership will further strengthen this tradition.

Nadeem Afzal Chan said that the Pakistan Peoples Party has always maintained a clear stance that journalism must be free, independent, and secure. From Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the PPP has waged a continuous and historic struggle for press freedom.

He added that PPP’s leadership and workers have always raised their voices against restrictions on journalism, endured imprisonments, suffered lashes, but never compromised on their principles. The PPP has always stood shoulder to shoulder with the journalist community in defending freedom of expression and press freedom.
