The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency has now been formally activated to curb cybercrime in the country. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has strongly denied allegations regarding the shutdown of YouTube channels.
According to a statement issued by the FIA, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) is now officially operational. The spokesperson clarified that the investigation and legal proceedings related to cybercrime now fall under the jurisdiction of the NCCIA, not the FIA. The court orders in question were issued at the request of the NCCIA, not the FIA, and the FIA is not mentioned anywhere in the judicial directives.
The FIA urged the media and the public not to believe unverified news. The spokesperson emphasized that the FIA and the NCCIA are two separate and independent institutions. Cybercrime investigations and legal actions are no longer within the FIA’s mandate. Media representatives have been advised to verify any news with the relevant government agency before broadcasting or publishing it.
