Islamabad – A meeting of the federal cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which several key decisions were made:

  • Approval granted to dissolve Utility Stores Corporation; operations ceased from July 31
  • Prime Minister directed full protection of employee rights during dissolution
  • Special prayers offered for those who lost their lives in recent rains and floods
  • Prime Minister thanked ministers who visited flood-affected areas
  • Recommendations presented to stabilize urea fertilizer prices
  • Emphasis on reducing farmers’ production costs; committee formed comprising ministers and aides
  • Amendments approved to the Special Economic Zones Act 2012
  • New amendments aim to create a business-friendly environment for industries
  • Prime Minister stressed the need for an investor-friendly climate to boost industrial growth
  • Annual report of the National Economic Council approved for presentation in Parliament
  • Cabinet endorsed decisions made in ECC and CCLC meetings

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the national economy is on the path to progress, and industrial development will lead to increased exports and employment.
