Foolproof Security Arrangements for Diwali Celebrations Across Sindh

Spokesperson, Sindh Government/ Member, Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has issued letter to the IG Sindh Police to ensure preventive, comprehensive & foolproof security measures at all Hindu temples and community gathering places throughout the province during the upcoming Diwali festival.
According to the letter, Diwali will be celebrated from October 21 to October 22, 2025, over a period of three days. In view of this occasion, Mr Hemnani has emphasized the importance of preemptive security and coordination to safeguard the rights and safety of minority communities.
In a formal communication addressed to the Inspector General of Sindh Police, Mr. Sukhdev Asardas Hemnani highlighted that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees every citizen the right to freely practice and propagate their religion. It is therefore the duty of the State to protect the legitimate rights and interests of all minority groups.
Mr. Hemnani urged the Police Department to work in close coordination with local community leaders to ensure complete and proactive security arrangements at all temples and gathering points during Diwali. He stressed that such measures are vital to maintaining religious freedom and preventing any untoward incidents.
He further stated that the protection of human rights and promotion of religious harmony remain key priorities of the Sindh Government.
Spokesperson to the Government, Hemnani also said that Sindh Government remains firmly committed to upholding the fundamental rights of all citizens, particularly the right to freedom of religion and belief, as enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan.
Following Mr. Hemnani’s letter, the Inspector General of Sindh Police has instructed all Additional IGs, DIGs, SSP as well as the Traffic DIGs across Sindh, to ensure full-scale, foolproof security arrangements across Sindh during the Diwali festivities.
“The Government of Sindh continues fostering an inclusive, tolerant and pluralistic society - where every community can celebrate its traditions in peace and with full enthusiasm,” added Hemnani.
