Advisor Giyanchand Essrani Reviews Performance of Sindh Rehabilitation Department

KARACHI, Adviser to the Chief Minister for Rehabilitation, Giyanchand Essrani, chaired a high-level review meeting today at the PDMA headquarters to evaluate the performance of the Sindh Rehabilitation Department and its associated institutions.
The meeting focused on the Annual Development Programme (ADP) schemes, budgetary allocations for 2025–26, and the operational achievements of Rescue 1122 and PDMA during the 2025 flood season.
Key Performance Highlights (2025)
The heads of departments presented comprehensive reports detailing the impact of their services over the past year:
* Rescue 1122: Effectively managed medical emergencies, fire incidents, and road accidents. The service notably trained over 36,000 citizens and responders in emergency handling.
* PDMA Sindh: Minimized losses during the 2025 floods through a centralized 24/7 control room, early warning systems, and efficient district-level relief distribution.
* Mobile Health Units: Delivered free medical consultations, diagnostics, and medicines to millions of residents in remote and underserved areas.
Strategic Directives & Future Oversight
Adviser Essrani emphasized that providing relief during disasters remains the government's top priority. He issued the following directives to ensure accountability and transparency:
* Strict Monitoring: Rescue services and mobile health units must maintain high standards of service, with an immediate focus on the uninterrupted supply of medicines.
* Resource Allocation: A formal summary will be moved to the Chief Secretary of Sindh to address the shortage of fire tenders for Rescue 1122.
* Field Inspections: The Adviser announced he would personally inspect ongoing projects in Mirpurkhas and conduct province-wide warehouse visits starting in January to verify relief stocks.
* Data Management: Immediate collection of district-wise records for relief items distributed during the 2025 floods was ordered from all Deputy Commissioners.
"The foremost responsibility of this department is to provide effective relief before, during, and after disasters. Any lapse in public service is unacceptable," stated Giyanchand Essrani.
The meeting concluded with the approval of all agenda items, including the filling of vacant positions and the finalization of the SNE 2025–26 budget proposals.
