Karachi Soldier Bazaar Cylinder Blast
A residential building collapsed in Karachi’s Soldier Bazaar area due to a cylinder explosion, resulting in heavy loss of life. The blast occurred because of a gas leak, which caused part of the building to cave in. Police and rescue teams rushed to the site immediately after receiving the report and launched a search and rescue operation.
According to rescue officials, 16 bodies have so far been recovered from the debris. The number of injured has reached 13, who have been shifted to Civil Hospital. Among the injured are women and children, who are receiving medical treatment.
DG Rescue 1122 Wajid stated that two houses were affected: the explosion occurred in one house, while the neighboring rented house was also damaged. One house was cleared, and five injured people were taken to the hospital. Reports indicated that three children were trapped under the rubble; one girl was rescued alive.
Deputy Commissioner East Nasrullah Abbasi confirmed that the death toll rose from 10 to 13. The building was constructed on approximately 40 to 50 square yards. Around 4 a.m., authorities received information about the blast. Investigations revealed that the cylinder explosion caused part of the building to collapse.
The rescue operation is still ongoing due to fears that more people may be trapped. Police have begun investigating the incident.
