"Sindh Women’s Commission & ZABTech Join Hands to Empower Girls Through Technical Education"

A productive and forward-looking meeting was held between Adv. Rubina Aman Brohi, Chairperson of the Sindh Commission on the Status of Women, and Waheeda Mahesar, Executive Director of SZABIST-ZABTech, to explore collaborative efforts aimed at promoting technical education opportunities for girls across Sindh.
During the meeting, Chairperson Brohi shared key insights from her recent field visits to villages in Shaheed Benazirabad and community engagements in Umerkot, conducted as part of the awareness campaign “Know Your Laws, Know Your Rights” spanning from National Women’s Day to International Women’s Day. She highlighted the challenges faced by girls in accessing secondary and higher education due to inadequate infrastructure, roads, and limited mobility.
Importantly, Chairperson Brohi emphasised that girls from these communities expressed a strong and surprising demand for technical education, recognizing it as a pathway toward economic independence and empowerment.
Ms. Waheeda Mahesar shared the vision and upcoming initiatives of ZABTech, expressing keen interest in partnering with the Sindh Commission on the Status of Women and the Women Development Department to bridge existing gaps and expand access to technical and vocational training for girls throughout the province.
The meeting was also attended by Qasim Soomro, Member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, who appreciated the initiative and underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing educational disparities and empowering young women.
This collaboration marks a significant step toward equipping girls in Sindh with the skills and opportunities necessary for a more equitable and empowered future.
