Sindh to Rise: Awami Tehreek Plans Mass Protest on Palijo’s 8th Anniversary

Hyderabad A meeting of the preparation committee for the 8th death anniversary of renowned revolutionary leader Rasool Bux Palijo was held at Palijo House, Qasimabad, Hyderabad, chaired by Awami Tehreek President Advocate Vasand Thari.
The committee reviewed arrangements for the June 7 public gathering at Jungshahi, where thousands of peasants, workers, students, and teachers from across Sindh will pay tribute to Palijo.
Speaking at the meeting, Thari declared the anniversary event a dual purpose: honoring Palijo’s legacy and staging a powerful protest against American imperialism, resource plundering, artificial water shortages, violence against women, and soaring inflation.
He demanded the immediate closure of Punjab’s flood canals — Chashma-Jhelum Link Canal and Taunsa-Panjnad Link Canal — accusing them of depriving Sindh of its rightful water share.
Thari also denounced the proposed 28th Constitutional Amendment as a conspiracy to divide Sindh and launch an economic assault on smaller nations.
Highlighting the crisis in maternal health, he said thousands of mothers die during childbirth due to hunger, poverty, and corruption in Sindh’s health sector. He termed these maternal deaths “government killings” and demanded urgent reforms in PPHI and maternity centers.
The meeting was attended by senior leaders including Noor Ahmed Katiar, Raheel Bhutto, Umra Samoon, and others.
