Supreme Court Questions Medical Claims in Noor Mukadam Murder Convict’s Appeal

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court heard the review petition filed against the death sentence of the convict in the Noor Mukadam murder case. During the proceedings, the defense counsel Khawaja Haris requested adjournment until Monday, but the court rejected the plea.
Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim asked the defense to show records proving when the convict’s medical treatment began and whether he was under treatment at the time of the incident. Justice Salahuddin Panhwar further questioned the defense to establish when the convict fell ill, which doctor treated him, and whether his medical history from school, college, or university existed.
The defense presented a letter from London’s Harley Street Clinic, but Justice Panhwar noted that the document was dated 2022. He asked whether the convict himself traveled to London after the incident to obtain the letter. The bench also expressed surprise that while the defense claimed the convict did not get a lawyer of his choice, he was able to produce a letter from London.
The court adjourned further hearing of the case.
