Valika Hospital HIV case: 37 employees issued show-cause notices.

Sindh Labour Minister Saeed Ghani addressed a critical press conference regarding the alleged spread of HIV/AIDS at Karachi's Valika Hospital. The issue initially came to light in October 2025, prompting an immediate investigation. Following the inquiry report, show-cause notices have been issued to 37 negligent employees, and two Medical Superintendents were removed on the Provincial Ombudsman's orders. During ongoing screenings, 120 individuals tested positive for HIV, though 39 had no prior treatment history at the hospital. Ghani firmly stated that he would not defend himself as minister. He emphasized that those guilty of criminal negligence will face rigorous criminal proceedings, including immediate termination, police FIR registration, and jail time, while transparency will be ensured through an independent endowment fund.
