Karachi: The Additional District and Sessions Judge (East) has granted the investigating officer time until August 24 to complete inquiries in the Mir Raza murder case. Meanwhile, a Judicial Magistrate extended the interim bail of the victim’s business partner, Muhammad Ahmed, until the same date.
During proceedings, complainant Mir Hassan, counsel Jibran Nasir, and IO Siraj Lashari appeared. The IO stated Ahmed’s statement was recorded as a witness, while Ahmed told the court he had cooperated whenever summoned. The judge directed Ahmed not to change residence or leave the city without informing police while on interim bail.
The court expressed concern over slow investigation, urging police to bring facts forward. Lashari said 35 individuals linked to Raza were being questioned, with call records scrutinized. No suspect has yet been formally charged.
Outside court, lawyer Jibran Nasir told media that Raza’s parents and sister had provided names of friends who might hold information, stressing transparency in the blind murder case.
The Judicial Magistrate also allowed investigators time until August 24 to finalize the probe and submit a report.
