KARACHI Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar expressing his deep grief and sorrow over the Jaranwala incident said that intolerance and violent extremism were against the principles of Islam.

In a statement issued from the CM House on Friday, the caretaker CM said that the Jaranwala incident has hurt him, and such incidents were bound to earn a bad name for our society and the country. He added that we must demonstrate tolerance and promote inter-faith harmony.

Justice Baqar urged religious leaders of different religions and other `compelling’ personalities to come over to promote Peace, tolerance, and brotherhood among the people of a different faith.

Guard of honour: Earlier, On his arrival at CM House Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar was given a Guard of Honour which was attended by Chief Secretary Sohail Rajput, acting IG Police Imran Yakoob Minhas, provincial secretaries, and senior police officers.

The chief secretary introduced the officers to the caretaker chief minister.

The caretaker chief minister formally assumed his office and started his official work.
