Justice Baqr suspends Ms, Dir. Finance, dissolve government body of GMM hospital
SUKKUR Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar during his surprise visit to Ghulam Mohammad Mahar Civil Hospital not only suspended the services of the Medical Superintendent, Director Finance and dissolved the Government Body but ordered a forensic audit of the hospital accounts through Anti-Corruption Establishment to unearth corrupt practices and maladministration.
The CM was accompanied by his Principal Secretary Hassan Naqvi, and Secretary health Dr Mansoor Rizvi joined him at the hospital.
On Tuesday morning, the CM started his day with a surprise visit to the Ghulam Mohammad Maher Medical Hospital, known as Civil Hospital, Sukkur.
The CM went from ward to ward, visited ICU, Operation Theatres, Pharmacy/medicine store, and Paediatric wards, and interacted with the patients and heard them about the performance of the hospital.
The CM observed that neither the Director General nor the other concerned officers have ever conducted an inspection to improve the performance at the facility.
In the OPD male and female patients were lying on the beds without any petition, though the hospital had the space/wards to establish separate OPDs for males and females.
The hospital administration failed to produce records of local purchases of medicine or even expenditures incurred on account of minor repairs and maintenance. Therefore, the chief minister ordered the suspension of the Director Finance of the hospital and ordered an inquiry.
The chief minister during his inspection of the kitchen found its in a pathetic condition and no food was being prepared regularly for the patients. The kitchen had no record of regular local purchases and even had no required utensils for cooking and serving food to the patients.
Therefore, the CM suspended the services of the medical Superintendent of the Hospital for his overall failure to run the hospital affairs fairly and transparently.
The Chief Minister called the Principal of the Ghulam Mohammad Maher Medical College Hospital who happens to be the chairman of the governing body of the hospital.
The CM said that the principal being chairman of the hospital board has failed to perform his monitoring work.
Therefore, the CM ordered the dissolution of the government body and ordered a thorough inquiry, forensic audit of the hospital accounts and thorough inquiry by Anti-Corruption. Police station C-Section:
The chief minister along with Minister Home Brig (retd) Haris Nawaz paid a surprise visit to the Police station C-Section where he found everything in shambles.
The police station building was in good condition was collapsing after being affected by the recent heavy rains. The gate of the Weaponry, Malkhana were infested with weevils.
The CM expressed his displeasure that neither the SSP nor the DSPs nor DIGs were inspecting the police stations for which the necessary inspection regime had been notified by the CM Secretariat. The chief minister warned the police to act actively against drug mafia, and organised crime and develop public confidence in the provincial police.
“I want you [the police] to make your police stations neat and clean and properly secured,” he said and added inspection registers must be maintained at the police stations.
Darul Aman: On the last leg of his surprise visits the CM went to Dar-ul-Aman where 24 inmates, some of them with their kids were living. The CM expressed displeasure with the living conditions of the Darul Aman. The beds had no cushions, rooms had a stinking smell and even the inmates complained about the attitude of the administration.
The Chief Minister directed the Commissioner to improve living conditions at the Darul Aman, make it full of life for the inmates and their children and develop a TV room where they could watch TV.
He directed the Commissioner to renovate the kitchen, dining hall, and washrooms and make it airy so that the women could live in a good atmosphere. Meanwhile, he directed the DC to get an inquiry into the Darul Aman Affairs through his female Assistant Commissioner and report him.
