Gilgit-Baltistan Consultation for ending Child Marriage

NCSW with support of its partners UNFPA, UNICEF & UN-Women recently held a one day Consultation on Child Marriage in Serena GB.
The Purpose of this consultation was to hold a fruitful discussion leading to actionable solutions to address the issue of child marriage in our society.
One of these solutions is the Child Marriage Restraint Bill which we have been actively working upon.
This law would ensure provision of basic health facilities to young girls and would guarantee their rights under the teachings of Islam.
Draft bill of the child marriage was presented to the Speaker of the House with the commitment that NCSW will further work on this legislation and bring the final draft back to Gilgit-Baltistan very soon.
Minster Women Development GB Ms. Dilshad Bano, Secretary Women Development GB Mr. Fida Hussain, the Office of the Chief Secretary GB along with the development partners UNICEF, UNDP and UN-Women participated in this consultation. Speaker GB Legislative Assembly Mr. Nazir Ahmad attended the session as a Chief Guest.
