Ambassador Blome and Secretary of National Heritage and Culture Humaira Ahmed signed a groundbreaking cultural property agreement to protect Pakistan’s extraordinary cultural treasures.
The
agreement restricts the import of specific archaeological materials from
Pakistan to the U.S. and paves way for the return of Pakistani archeological
objects to their home.
To date, the United States has returned more than
175 cultural objects to Pakistan.
This agreement further simplifies the process.
For more than two decades, the U.S. has worked to preserve Pakistan's cultural heritage, contributing more than $8.4 million in 35 cultural heritage projects across Pakistan.
