Sindh College Games 2024: Youth Empowerment Takes Center Stage as Thousands Compete Across the Province


 

Karachi، The sixth edition of the Sindh College Games 2024 opened today at the DJ Sports Complex in Karachi. The event was inaugurated by Sindh Provincial Minister for Information, Minorities Affairs, and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, along with Sindh Provincial Minister for Education, Rana Hussain, and Secretary of College Education, Sindh, Sadaf Anees Sheikh.

 

In his opening remarks, Minister Shah said that the youth are the future of the country. He noted that 60% of Pakistan’s population is under the age of 24, and that a large number of these young people are women. He urged all young people, regardless of their background or circumstances, to strive to achieve their full potential.

 

“If you were not born with a silver spoon in your mouth, or if you live in a small town or village, it does not matter,” said Minister Shah. “What will take you forward is your strength and passion. We have struggled ourselves, and now it is your turn.

 

“To the women athletes, I say that when you leave your home, your head and your eyes should be held high,” he added. “You are no less than anyone else. Believe in yourself and never give up. The world has changed. The whole world’s knowledge is in a cell phone. You can be anyone you want to be. You can be Benazir Bhutto or Ra'ana Liaquat Ali Khan.”

 

On this occasion, Provincial Minister of Education, Rana Hussain, stated that the objective of the Sindh College Games is to showcase the abilities of the youth, enabling them to excel mentally and physically. She further stated that students from 370 colleges across the province will compete against each other in the games, showcasing their enthusiasm for healthy competition.

 

It is noteworthy that thousands of athletes from 370 colleges across Sindh are participating in various competitions in their respective regions. 3000 athletes from 154 colleges in Karachi participated in the Sindh College Games. Additionally, cultural tableaus were presented by the students.

 

Present at the event were Professor Syed Saleh Abbas, Director-General of Colleges Sindh; Additional Secretary Colleges, Mukhtar Ahmed Malah; Director Private Colleges, Abdul Qadir Shah; Director Monitoring, Ijaz Ali Sahito; Director Planning and Development, Ali Abbas; Regional Directors of Colleges. The 6th edition of the Sindh College Games will continue until March 1st 2024.
