The Sindh Government rejected the appointment of IRSA Chairman

The Sindh government has demanded to withdraw the notification rejecting the appointment of the chairman of the Indus River System Authority (IRSA).

 

Sindh Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro has rejected the appointment of IRSA Chairman and said that the appointment of IRSA Chairman is a violation of Water Accord and IRSA Act.

 

He said that Sindh government condemns the illegal appointment of irsa Chairman.

 

Provincial Irrigation Minister said that the chairman of Irsa is a member of the provinces or a representative of the federation, no outsider can become the chairman of Ursa.

Jam Khan Shoro demanded from the federal government that the appointment of an outsider as IRSA chairman is a violation of the laws, the prime minister withdraws the notification of the appointment of IRSA chairman.

 

On the other hand, People's Party Member of National Assembly Naveed Qamar has said that there is a condition in the irsa Act that the chairpersonship of Irsa will fall to the provinces alternately, but the caretaker government took away this authority from the provinces through an ordinance and gave it to the Prime Minister. has given

Naveed Qamar in his address to the Assembly further said that a major policy change was not the power or prerogative of the Caretaker Government, the job of the Caretaker Government was only to carry out the day-to-day affairs of the state, a move which included the Council of Common Interests. The authority of (CII) was not included, in fact it is a clear violation of the Constitution, therefore this decision cannot be implemented and should not have been implemented.
