A group of smugglers, including policemen, who tried
to smuggle modern weapons to Sindh from Balochistan in a police mobile, were
arrested.
According to police sources, 3 officials of Shikarpur
police and 4 inter-provincial smugglers were arrested, the said weapons were
being supplied to the dacoits.
Police sources told that the Jacobabad Police, acting
on the information of arms smuggling from Balochistan to Sindh province,
arrested 3 police officers of Shikarpur district and four inter-provincial
smugglers.
According to the police, 2,350 bullets of light
machine gun and Kalashnikov have been recovered from the double cabin and
police mobile, including 6 magazines of light machine gun and 17 magazines of
G3 rifle.
Police officials say that the bullets were being
transported from Balochistan in a double cabin vehicle. In the operation, the
wanted smuggler and 3 police officers have been arrested.
Apart from this, the notorious smuggler Akhtar
Lashari, wanted in 4 cases, was also arrested while the arrested policemen
belong to Shikarpur.
