The body of alleged model and actress Humaira Asghar has been recovered

The body of alleged model and actress Humaira Asghar has been recovered from an apartment in the upscale Defence area of Karachi. Initial reports suggest a natural death, but police have expanded the scope of their investigation. The provincial Minister for Culture has also taken notice of the incident.
The body was found in a flat located in Lane 5 of Ittehad Commercial Area, Phase 6, Defence. According to police, the deceased was identified as Humaira Asghar, a model and actress who had been living alone in the apartment since 2018. Police stated that she had stopped paying rent in 2024. Both doors of the apartment were locked from the inside, and there was no other entry point.
The landlord had filed a case with the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC), and today, when a court-appointed bailiff arrived to vacate the flat, the woman’s body was found lying on the floor. Police transferred the body to Jinnah Hospital for post-mortem examination. Her mobile phone was also recovered from the flat and has been sent for forensic analysis.
Police said that the woman’s family, reportedly from Lahore, has not yet contacted them. Meanwhile, Sindh’s Minister for Culture and Tourism, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, has demanded a full report from the DIG South. He called the incident tragic and urged the police to investigate all aspects and present the facts to the public.
According to Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya, the body was in a decomposed state when brought to the hospital. Necessary samples have been preserved, but the cause of death will only be confirmed after the forensic report is completed.
