200 people evacuated to safe locations in Tando Muhammad Khan: Sindh govt spokesperson Syeda Tehseen Abidi

(Karachi 31 August) Amid fears of possible flooding in Sindh’s Tando Muhammad Khan district, the evacuation process of residents is under way at an accelerated pace. Sindh government spokesperson Syeda Tehseen Abidi said that so far, 200 people had been shifted to safe locations, while the evacuation of another 4,500 residents was in progress.
She said the most vulnerable area was Village Jumoo Mallah, parts of which had already been vacated to avert any potential loss of life. On the directives of the Sindh government, the district administration had set up a large relief camp in Maqbro Sharif, named Tent City, with the capacity to accommodate between 2,500 and 3,000 households. The camp, she added, was equipped with temporary shelter, food supplies, clean drinking water, and medical facilities for the displaced families.
Ms Abidi said that all relevant departments had been placed on high alert and urged citizens to cooperate with the district administration. She further appealed to residents of vulnerable areas to immediately move to the designated camps or safe locations in case of any emergency.
