🌾 Sukkur Commissioner Reviews Wheat Support Program & Polio Campaign — 90% Registration Achieved Across Division!

Sukkur Commissioner Sukkur Division Abid Saleem Qureshi, presided over an important joint meeting, held in the conference hall of the Commissioner's Office. The meeting reviewed the Provincial Government's Wheat Growrs' Support Program-2025, the previous polio campaign, and matters related to the Forest Department and Revenue affairs.
The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner-I Muhammad Aamir Ansari, Additional Commissioner-II Muhammad Hajjan, Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Nader Shehzad, Deputy Commissioner Khairpur Mirs Fayaz Hussain Rahujo, Deputy Commissioner Ghotki Manzoor Ahmed Kunrani, Additional Deputy Commissioners from all three districts, Conservator of Forests Sukkur, Director Agriculture Sukkur, Divisional Forest Officer as well as District Officers, Assistant Commissioners from all talukas of Sukkur Division, Survey Superintendent Sukkur, and other relevant officers.
Commissioner Sukkur Division Abid Saleem Qureshi received briefings on the Sindh Government's Wheat Growers' Support Program 2025, reviewed the October polio campaign, and discussed agenda points concerning tree cutting/ felling in forests and revenue matters handled by Assistant Commissioners.
Addressing the meeting, Commissioner Sukkur Division Abid Saleem Qureshi stated that alongside the Kissan Card Scheme, the Wheat Growers' Support Program 2025 is an excellent initiative by the Sindh Government for the economic betterment of farmers, food security, and increasing wheat production. Commissioner Sukkur directed the Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners to coordinate closely with the Agriculture Department and expedite the registration process for the Wheat Grower Support Program-2025. On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioners of Khairpur Mirs, Ghotki, and Sukkur reported that approximately 90% of the registration process for this program has been completed, and the remaining work will be finished within 2 to 4 days.
The Director of Agriculture Sukkur, while briefing on the Wheat Growers' Support Program-2025, stated that under the Sindh Government's support program for wheat farmers/cultivators with 1 to 25 acres of agricultural land will be given cash equivalent to the price of 1 bag of DAP and 2 bags of Urea fertilizer per acre. He clarified that this facility is exclusively for wheat cultivators, and to maintain the program's transparency, the amount will be transferred to the wheat farmers after verification of the crop on the ground.
October Polio Campaign Review:
In the meeting, AC WHO Dr. Jameel briefed about the polio vaccination campaign conducted across the division this month, informing that almost 100% coverage was achieved in all clusters, including migrant population, refusal cases in Sukkur, Ghotki, and Khairpur districts, barring a few sporadic refusal cases. Dr. Jameel further reported that the continuous positive environmental samples for the polio virus from the Drainage Area of Maka Pumping Station in Sukkur are indeed a matter of concern.
On this occasion, Commissioner Sukkur Division Abid Saleem said it is encouraging that overall, the results of the previous polio campaign are satisfactory, while room for improvement still exists. Commissioner Sukkur directed that officials and other polio workers who are consistently negligent or violators in the polio campaign should not be given any further chance for correction/ reform. Therefore, such individuals should be removed from the polio campaign and replaced with capable young people filled with a spirit of national service, which will certainly yield good results. Taking punitive action based on reward and punishment will also serve as a lesson for other responsible officials. He appreciated the role of all Assistant Commissioners during the polio campaign, specifically praising the performance of AC New Sukkur Waseem Mahar, as New Sukkur was considered a challenging taluka regarding polio.
Forest Department:
Commissioner Sukkur expressed concern to the officers of the Forest Department, stating that incidents of tree felling are still occurring. He directed them to seek cooperation from the Police, Rangers, and local notables in this regard. He further stated that with modern scientific development, the world has reached the moon; therefore, they should also utilize the services of I.T experts for Google mapping and other technical aspects to find a permanent solution for monitoring forests. In this connection, Commissioner Sukkur directed the Forest Department officers to get in touch with I.T experts from Sukkur IBA and Arore Universities.
Revenue Matters: All Assistant Commissioners
In the presence and under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioners of Sukkur, Khairpur Mirs, and Ghotki, gave detailed briefings to Commissioner Sukkur Division regarding Land Revenue cases under the Sindh Land Revenue Act 1967 in their talukas, passing Land Acquisition and Awards, collection of Abiana from July 2025 and issuance of Sale Certificates and their entry into Revenue records, Foti Khata, encroachments, birth certificates, polio campaign, public complaints, social services, promotion of education and sports activities, tree sapling plantation, public parks, and other matters.
Commissioner Sukkur Division Abid Saleem Qureshi deemed the work of the Assistant Commissioners satisfactory and directed them to dedicate one day per week to social work. Considering the recent Dengue situation in Karachi and Hyderabad in Sindh province, he instructed them to organize awareness sessions in schools and other educational institutions for students on preventive measures against Dengue, in coordination with the Health Department officials. He also directed them to display public awareness pamphlets against Dengue at prominent places in cities, ensure the pre-emptive establishment of Dengue wards and availability of medicines in government hospitals and other health centers, and pay attention to the cleanliness in hospitals, bus stands, and other public places. He directed the ACs to conduct field visits, assess situations personally, avoid prolonging matters unnecessarily, and strive to resolve complaints as quickly as possible.#
