Sindh Government has activated SEPRA, which will soon start functioning: Syed Nasir Hussain Shah
Karachi :Sindh Minister for Energy, Planning & Development, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, while addressing as Chief Guest at a Renewable Energy Conference held at a local hotel in Karachi today, said that organizing such a valuable conference on a positive theme is a commendable initiative. He assured that the Sindh Government will certainly implement the recommendations and proposals put forward by experts and participants of the conference.
He said eco-friendly green energy is playing a constructive role in combating climate change. The Sindh Government has made Sindh Electric Power Regulatory Authority (SEPRA) operational, which will soon begin functioning, and this activation will provide much-needed support to investors. He added that Sindh Government is also working on green energy projects under public-private partnership.
“The foremost priority is Pakistan. Any project that serves Pakistan’s interest will be implemented, and every investor who comes forward will be fully supported,” he said. The Sindh Government is already working on several green energy initiatives. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has given special instructions to ensure the provision of affordable electricity. Work is also being carried out on mini-grids and micro-grids, he informed.
The conference was attended by MNA Nafisa Shah, Mushtaq Ahmed Soomro (Secretary Energy), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tufail (Vice Chancellor NED), Mahfooz Qazi (Director, Sindh Solar Energy Project), Kamil Khalil (CEO Zephyr Wind), Noor Muhammad Bajir (CEO Civil Society Support Program), along with other distinguished guests.
The participants of the conference highlighted the importance of renewable energy in the backdrop of climate change.
