Peshawar High Court Grants Transit Bail to Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha Until October 9

The Peshawar High Court has granted transit bail to social activist and lawyer Imaan Mazari and her husband, Advocate Hadi Ali Chattha, until October 9. The hearing was conducted by Chief Justice S.M. Atiq Shah, with lawyers Attaullah Kundi, Jehanzaib Mehsud, Tariq Afghan, and Additional Attorney General Sanaullah appearing before the court.
Earlier, a local court in Islamabad had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for both individuals in a controversial tweet case involving alleged remarks against state institutions. The court had ordered their appearance on September 24.
The petitioner's counsel informed the court that the case was registered in Islamabad and both lawyers intend to appear before the relevant court. Chief Justice Shah approved the transit bail and directed them to present themselves accordingly.
According to the FIR filed by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha are accused of inciting ethnic division and blaming security forces for the issue of missing persons through social media posts. The case has been registered under sections 9, 10, 11, and 26 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
