Sindh Secretary Nadeem-ur-Rehman Memon Vows Reforms During Sukkur College Visit; Orders Action Against Encroachments and Infrastructure Repairs

Secretary College Education and Information Department Sindh, Nadeem-ur-Rehman Memon, paid a visit to Government Girls Degree College Sukkur. On this occasion, Regional Director College Education Sukkur Abdul Qadir Chachar, Principal of the College Professor Salma Qazi, Assistant Director College Education Wafa Shah, Engineer Education Works Saeed Abid, Ahsan Bhatti, and other relevant officers were also present.
During the visit, the Secretary was given a comprehensive briefing by the Principal regarding the college’s academic, administrative, and infrastructural matters. Secretary College Education inspected various sections of the college, including the science laboratory, digital library, classrooms, office section, and academic block, and also interacted with the staff and students.
The Secretary reviewed the arrangements related to cleanliness, drinking water, classroom lighting, washrooms, and security, and issued strict instructions to the concerned staff to ensure improvement. He emphasized that the provision of basic facilities in educational institutions is the fundamental right of students, and negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.
While addressing the students, Secretary Nadeem-ur-Rehman Memon said You are our future doctors, engineers, teachers, and scientists. An educated woman is the foundation of a developed society. The government is taking sincere and practical measures to bring reforms and provide modern educational facilities.
He further urged the teachers to ensure regular attendance, motivation of students, and maintenance of high academic standards.
On this occasion, Principal Professor Salma Qazi briefed that the college has been facing several issues for some time, including lack of transportation for students, infrastructure damage caused by heavy rains, and non-teaching staff remaining at the college despite being transferred. She mentioned that the college bus has been out of order for a long time, which has affected students’ attendance, and that some portions of the building are under illegal occupation and electricity theft is also occurring.
Secretary Nadeem-ur-Rehman Memon directed the Regional Director College Education to take immediate action against the encroachers and issue written notices to staff who have not vacated after transfer. He also instructed the Engineer Education Works to initiate urgent planning for the renovation of the dilapidated auditorium, weak roofs, and other damaged structures.
In conclusion, the Secretary met with the college staff, carefully listened to their issues and suggestions, and assured them that the problems faced by students and staff would be resolved on a priority basis.
