Chief Secretary Sindh Meets Newly Posted IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho

Chief Secretary Sindh, Asif Hyder Shah, held a meeting with the newly posted Inspector General (IG) Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, following his assumption of charge. During the meeting, Chief Secretary Sindh congratulated IG Javed Alam Odho on his new assignment and assured him of the full support of the Sindh Government in all policing and administrative matters. The discussion focused on strategies to further enhance the training, facilities, and welfare of police personnel across the province. Chief Secretary Sindh emphasized that the services of the police force are commendable and essential for maintaining peace, security, and law and order in Sindh. He highlighted the need for continuous capacity-building programs and modern facilities for police officers to ensure effective law enforcement. IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho reaffirmed his commitment to promoting efficient, transparent, and community-friendly policing.
Later, Chief Secretary Sindh, Asif Hyder Shah, *held a meeting with a delegation of the Hyderabad Union of Journalists.* The delegation comprised PFUJ Vice President and President of Hyderabad Press Club, Junaid Khanzada, President Hyderabad Union of Journalists Hameed Sheikh, and Muhammad Hussain Khan. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on issues faced by the journalist community, welfare initiatives, and the overall development of Hyderabad.
The delegation briefed the Chief Secretary on the health insurance scheme for journalists initiated by the Hyderabad Union of Journalists, along with other measures taken for the welfare and well-being of journalists. Matters related to the Journalists Colony of Hyderabad Press Club, including its development and future requirements, were also discussed.
The delegation informed that the Journalists Colony is a purely welfare-oriented project aimed at providing housing facilities to journalists, and therefore requested that the previous rates of External Development Charges be maintained. It was further emphasized that the pending development schemes of the Journalists Colony should be included in the upcoming provincial budget to ensure timely completion.
Chief Secretary Sindh appreciated the role of Hyderabad journalists in highlighting civic issues and contributing to public awareness. He stated that the Sindh Government is fully aware of the problems faced by the journalist community and is making efforts to resolve their issues on a priority basis.
The Chief Secretary assured the delegation that development-related issues of journalists and the Hyderabad Press Club’s Journalists Colony would be addressed in coordination with the concerned departments. He added that more development projects for the city of Hyderabad are under consideration and that several development works are already in progress.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the delegation acknowledged and appreciated the role of the Sindh Government in ensuring the protection, welfare, and well-being of the journalist community.
