NAB Karachi Action Against Bahria Town

Karachi — The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi has launched a major action against Bahria Town, freezing all land belonging to Bahria Town II as well as the palatial residence of Bahria Town founder and chairman Malik Riaz Hussain in Bahria Town Karachi.
According to NAB Karachi, 3,150 acres of land in Bahria Town II have been frozen. The land was allegedly acquired through fraudulent means and constructed on forest department property. In addition, Malik Riaz’s lavish residence, Ali Villa, spread over 67 acres in Bahria Hills, Bahria Town Karachi, has also been frozen. The villa, registered under his son’s name, includes modern facilities such as a helipad, mini zoo, and swimming pools.

NAB Karachi confirmed that in two new inquiries, 1,338 acres of land have also been frozen. Authorities allege that Bahria Town Karachi illegally occupied this land, which belongs to the Sindh Government, and had planned to build Bahria Greens and other residential projects there. NAB has also issued orders preventing Bahria Town Karachi from transferring rights of the frozen land to any third party.
Pending Reference
NAB has already filed a reference in the Accountability Court Karachi regarding the illegal conversion and misappropriation of 17,672 acres of government land in District Malir, valued at approximately Rs. 708 billion.
