Rotary District 3271 Launches New Year at Mazar-e-Quaid; Vows to 'Create Lasting Impact' Across Sindh & Balochistan

KARACHI – Rotary International District 3271 officially commenced its 2026–27 Rotary year with a prestigious wreath-laying ceremony at the Mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Led by the newly appointed District Governor, Shahzad Sabir, the delegation paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation, using the occasion to reaffirm Rotary’s core values of humanitarian service, integrity, and nation-building.
District Governor Shahzad Sabir was accompanied by First Lady Sumeira Shahzad, members of his family, and the District's senior leadership, including Vice Governor PDG Dr. Aftab Imam, Mentor PDG Hanif Khan, along with District officers, Deputy Governors, Assistant Governors, and prominent Rotary leaders representing various clubs across Sindh and Balochistan.
The solemn ceremony symbolized the transition into a new year of global volunteerism, with attendees renewing their pledge to align community development with the vision of the Quaid and the global Rotary motto, "Service Above Self."
Speaking to the gathering, District Governor Shahzad Sabir emphasized the profound responsibility of leadership:
"Standing before the resting place of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah reminds us that true leadership is measured by service to humanity. As we begin the 2026–27 Rotary year, we renew our commitment to creating lasting impact through projects that uplift communities, strengthen partnerships, and improve lives across Sindh and Balochistan."
He further noted that the District’s roadmap would closely follow the vision of Rotary International President Olayinka H. Babalola’s annual theme, "Create Lasting Impact," ensuring that compassionate volunteerism translates into measurable, sustainable action.
Strategic Areas of Focus for 2026–27
Governor Sabir outlined that during the upcoming year, Rotary District 3271 will intensify its efforts and expand corporate and public partnerships across several critical sectors:
Polio Eradication: Continuing the relentless global fight to keep Pakistan polio-free.
Healthcare & Education: Enhancing maternal and child health initiatives and promoting basic literacy.
Water & Sanitation: Implementing clean water access and hygiene solutions in underserved regions.
Economic Empowerment & Environment: Driving sustainable livelihood programs and environmental conservation projects.
Youth Leadership: Mentoring the next generation of changemakers through youth-led programs.
Rotary International District 3271 encompasses an extensive network of clubs across Sindh and Balochistan. It operates as a vital component of Rotary International’s global network of over 1.2 million neighbors, friends, and community leaders who dedicate their time and expertise to advancing peace, fighting disease, protecting the environment, and improving living standards worldwide.
