Two Statues Unearthed During Renovation Work at Karachi's Lea Market

Karachi: Two statues have been unearthed during renovation and restoration work at Karachi's historic Lea Market, prompting authorities to initiate scientific and archaeological examinations.
According to Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) is currently carrying out renovation work at the city's historic market when the two ancient-style statues were discovered during excavation.
The mayor said the statues have been moved to a secure location and will undergo scientific analysis and examination by archaeological experts to determine their age, origin, and historical significance.
He added that the artifacts will eventually be preserved in a museum after the assessment is completed. A comprehensive record of the recovered objects will also be prepared as part of efforts to document and protect the city's historical heritage.
Murtaza Wahab said excavation at the site is continuing with extra caution following the discovery of the potentially significant historical artifacts.
