The catastrophic floods of 2022 caused widespread destruction in Sindh, sweeping away houses and leaving more than 2 million homes damaged and thousands of families without shelter.
As a post-disaster mitigation strategy, the Government of Sindh (GoS) is committed to the sustainable rehabilitation of the disaster-struck people of Sindh through resilient housing.
To achieve this objective, the Government of Sindh established a public sector company “Sindh People’s Housing for Flood Affectees (SPHF),” to build back better through resilient housing.
The Government of Sindh also promised to give land titles of the newly constructed houses to the landless people.
The Government of Sindh under SPHF has already started constructing houses for the flood-affected communities and has so far released funds for around 50,000 houses across the province.
Moreover, fulfilling the promise, the Government of Sindh in the presence of Foreign Minister Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will be distributing land titles to the first 5,000 women beneficiaries in Larkana on 21st July 2023, marking a significant step towards sustainable rehabilitation of flood-affected people of Sindh.
