Karachi Provincial Minister of Energy Planning and Development Syed Nasir Shah while
addressing the workshop organized with the support of P&D Department and
the World Bank said that the Sindh government started this programme with the
support of the World Bank in 2017 and after that, a multi-sectoral task force
was formed by P&D Department to continue the fight against malnutrition.
He said that the topic of the workshop is not
new to us because we all know that malnutrition is a major problem and we are
making multifaceted efforts to control stunting and malnutrition
. Nasir Shah said that the floods of 2022
severely affected efforts to reduce stunting and malnutrition in Sindh and
considering the gravity of the situation and the severity of the crisis, we
urgently need to improve our current procedures.
He said that it is hoped that this workshop
will increase our understanding of the situation of malnutrition and stunting
in Sindh after the 2022 floods and God willing, with the cooperation of all
stakeholders, we will be able to reduce the rate of malnutrition.
Minister
welcomed everyone to this important workshop and thanked the P&D Department
and World Bank teams and said that he appreciated the efforts of the P&D
team, especially the Task Force Secretariat of Nutrition.
