Awami Tehreek Plans Protest Against Issuance of Identity Cards to Biharis, Burmese, and Other Illegal Aliens, and Corporate Farming Projects

Awami Tehreek has strongly opposed the issuance of identity cards to Biharis and Burmese nationals, along with projects like corporate farming, the construction of six new canals, and the increasing lawlessness in Sindh. To raise awareness and mobilize public support against these policies, the party has announced a rally in Tangwani on February 19 and a conference in Shikarpur on February 20.
Addressing a press conference at Naushero Feroze Press Club, Awami Tehreek’s senior vice president, Noor Ahmad Katiar, along with central vice president Sattar Rind, information secretary Lal Jarwar, district president Latif Bhatti, and general secretary Hussain Soomro, strongly criticized the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for what they called "selling out Sindh’s resources for personal political gains." They accused PPP of attempting to alter the province’s demographic structure by granting identity cards to Biharis, Burmese, and other foreign nationals.
The leaders further stated that during Monday’s session of the National Assembly, PPP member Agha Rafiullah demanded the issuance of identity cards to Bengalis and Biharis. Supporting this demand, MQM’s Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan, Amin-ul-Haq, and JUI’s Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri also endorsed the proposal. Awami Tehreek condemned these parties, stating that whether it is PPP, PML_N, or opposition groups like MQM, JUI, and PTI, all are united in making decisions that harm Sindh.
Party leaders alleged that PPP is implementing policies that undermine Sindh’s sovereignty in an effort to secure political gains, particularly to promote Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as Pakistan’s next prime minister. They claimed that Sindh’s land and water resources are being sold off while Sindhis are deliberately being marginalized. They also accused PPP of colluding with MQM and JUI in advancing these "anti-Sindh" policies.
Awami Tehreek reaffirmed its commitment to resisting such decisions, stating that the people of Sindh will strongly oppose these measures under all circumstances. The party called on the public to join its movement to protect Sindh’s rights and prevent what they described as a "conspiracy against Sindhi identity."
