SBCA Holds Performance Review Meeting on Public Complaints Mechanism, Urges Zero Tolerance for Delays
Karachi, – On the instructions of Director General of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), Muhammad Ishaq Khowaja, a performance review meeting was held at SBCA Headquarters Karachi. The session, presided over by Additional Director General Farhan Qaiser, evaluated the effectiveness of the Smart Complaint Redressal Mechanism (SCRM). Directors from all districts and relevant sections participated.
During the meeting, department heads presented updates on their respective sections. ADG Qaiser emphasized strict compliance with the Sindh High Court’s directives regarding timely resolution of public complaints. He warned that negligence or delay by officers would not be tolerated and disciplinary action would be taken without compromise.
He praised the efforts of the Public Cell Advertisement & Complaint Section and District Korangi for satisfactory performance, while expressing serious dissatisfaction with the general output of other districts. “Every complaint registered on the portal, no matter how small, must be addressed promptly. There is no alternative but to be prepared for departmental action,” he said.
Qaiser reiterated that the SBCA DG himself is closely monitoring the situation and that the court’s directives are paramount. He highlighted the provincial government’s continued emphasis on zero tolerance for construction violations, which is producing positive institutional results.
Calling for swift action, Qaiser insisted complaints be resolved within the designated time and in full spirit, adding there would be no room for dishonesty, errors, or negligence. He also invited the public to lodge complaints regarding illegal or substandard constructions or any coercion or wrongdoing by builders or developers through the SBCA portal. “If officers or staff delay or act unseriously, inform me directly,” he stated. “Your complaints will be addressed.”
