Reports of 60% Fee Increase Declared Baseless, UAJK Condemns Violence* 

MUZAFFARABAD,The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) has categorically rejected the reports alleging a 60 percent increase in tuition fees in any of its departments, terming them completely false, fabricated, and misleading.

In an official statement issued by the University’s Public Relations Department, the spokesperson clarified that as per university regulations, only a 10 percent annual increase in tuition fees applies uniformly to all ongoing academic programs. The spokesperson further explained that a Rs. 1,000 adjustment in the semester transport fee, which was subject to formal approval by the Academic Council and the Syndicate for implementation from the forthcoming semester, has also been withdrawn with immediate effect.

The spokesperson strongly condemned the acts of violence that occurred during the recent student protest, emphasizing that the University administration is fully committed to ensuring a peaceful and secure academic environment for its students, faculty, and staff.

“The University has formally requested the district administration and law enforcement agencies to take strict legal action against those found involved in violent incidents or disruptions on campus,” the spokesperson added.

As a precautionary measure and to maintain order and safety across all campuses, the University has decided to suspend all teaching activities until further notice.

The University reiterated its resolve to continue providing a safe, inclusive, and academically enriching environment once normalcy is restored.
